Ah, amore! It’s February and our minds turn to St. Valentine’s Day and longing gazes and tokens of love. With its origin in Old English, this word quite literally meant to “enchant” as with witchcraft. Now we think of the word less literally, but what about the almost supernatural power that a beloved can have over another?
