untrustworthy September, somehow

colder, wetter

than October.

The burning red days sink sooner

to the deepening blue. Trying

to eke out a few more growing days

as the garden surrenders

to your cold, wet tears. September,

you have robbed me

of more than most

will ever know. Your blinking

twilight leaves me

in a blue gone black.

I wrote this draft as part of National Poetry Writing Month. I hope to collect these works for a mixed media/writing piece I am working on entitled Love Letters to My Brother in Prison.

A beautiful and sad poem. I like the month of September. The world seem to slow down. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

    1. Hi John. Thanks for stopping by — and for sharing your poetry as well. I’ve read many of them and thoroughly enjoy myself. I actually enjoy September too. It’s a beautiful month.

I love the part of the garden surrendering to the cold wet tears, very surreal….
